NAC's extra bit more

A while ago, the Actor's Fund of Canada (http://www.actorsfund.ca/) had mentioned that year-end donation results from Ottawa's National Arts Centre would be available later. Welcome to later. The results are out. Here's the scoop:

"The National Arts Centre (NAC) has shown its community spirit with a holiday fundraiser that made an outstanding $28,984 for the Actors’ Fund of Canada and the Ottawa Food Bank. The theatre held a special matinee performance of Oliver! on December 30th with proceeds from ticket sales being split equally between the two organizations. In addition they held a pay-what-you-can preview performance of Creation which raised an additional $1,195 for the Fund, bringing their total fundraising for the Actors’ Fund to $15,662. The theatre will also be holding another benefit for the Actors’ Fund on May 8th, a pay-what-you-can preview performance of King Lear." - http://www.actorsfund.ca/archives/2104

The Actors’ Fund of Canada is a registered charity that provides short-term financial aid to entertainment industry professionals working in theatre, film & TV, music and dance. The Actors’ Fund is not just for actors: performers, creators, technical staff and other production team members can apply for help from the Fund which delivered over $400,000 in rent payments, grocery money, utility payments and other basic living expenses to clients in the last 12 months and has helped over 11,000 entertainment industry members since it was founded in 1958.

According to its newsletter, the Actors’ Fund of Canada distributed $50,630 in Dec. 2011, to people facing illness, injury and other personal hardships.

Thanks for checking in.
