Oh awes

A big congrats to Nepean-born performing artist Sandra Oh on her recently announced induction into Canada's Walk of Fame. The other six 2011 inductees are Dr. Roberta Bondar, Burton Cummings, Daniel Nestor, Russell Peters, Ryan Reynolds, and Mordecai Richler.

Oh is the tenth person from the capital region to receive this tribute, joining Ottawa-Gatineau native CWF inductees Rich Little, Barbara Ann Scott, Nancy Greene, Margaret Atwood, Dan Aykroyd, Paul Anka, Alanis Morissette, Daniel Lanois, and Mark McKinney of TV's Kids in the Hall.

2011 marks the 14th year for this annual awards ceremony that includes each inductee name featured on maple leaf-shaped stars installed in the sidewalk of Downtown Toronto's theatre district. It is scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 1st at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto, then televised nationally on Global and Slice in October.

Elsewhere on the local screen and stage scene, star watchers who may or may not have caught Daniel Lanois at Jazzfest here have a chance to spot Christopher Plummer perform at Music & Beyond (www.musicandbeyond.ca) and Tim Robbins play Bluesfest (see list below).
